We are proud to be a 100% women run business.
Our team of creative, talented women work collaboratively on every order, every single day of the week. Together, we value the strength and determination of our community and seek to harness this power in all that we do. The mi eelo team consists of ten full-time employees and 25 part-time artisans.
WE ARE MAKERS | WE ARE CREATORS | WE ARE DESIGNERS | WE ARE WORKERS | WE ARE SEAMSTRESSES | WE ARE SCREEN PRINTERS | WE ARE ARTISANS | WE ARE PRODUCERS |
The mi eelo team also includes over 25 independent artisans, who are contracted for their work.
Part-time artisans at mi eelo founded a previous entrepreneurship program that led to mi eelo's inception. Their precarious experiences in informal employment in the communities surrounding the Guatemala City garbage dump inspired a significant movement of change, manifesting in the form of a small entrepreneurship program created and led by these women that provided opportunities to learn new skills and earn a stable income. Through their fight for financial independence, these women have opened doors to dignified employment for themselves and other women in the community.
mi eelo was launched as a social impact business due to the demand and growth experienced in our niche speciality area of handmade production. Out of immense respect for our roots, we celebrate our history and growth throughout the years. The founding entrepreneurs form a key part of the mi eelo team. They continue to be role models and leaders in their community, paving the way for other women on their journeys towards financial sustainability.
